George Onofrei

George Onofrei is a Senior Lecturer in Operations and Supply Chain Management at Atlantic Technological University, Ireland. He completed his PhD in Operations and Supply Chain Management at UCD Smurfit Graduate Business School, Ireland. His research focuses on supply chain practices, sustainability, digitalisation, and behavioral operations in manufacturing and service industries. He has served on the Board of the European Operations Management Association (EurOMA) and as Vice President of the Global Manufacturing Research Group (GMRG). George’s work has been published in leading journals, including the International Journal of Production and Operations Management, Business Strategy and the Environment, Supply Chain Management: An International Journal, Journal of Business Research, Production Planning and Control, Resource Conservation and Recycling, International Journal of Production Research, and Operations Management Research, among others. He has received several awards, including the Lean Business Ireland Award (2019) for the Best Contribution to the Lean/Operational Excellence Body of Work and the Irish Research Council Ally Award (2021). He also serves as a visiting professor at several other universities.

George Onofrei, visited the lectures of BUU PhD students on November 7-8th, 2024 with the topic of “Designing and conducting quantitative research.” He explained that how to develop a conceptual framework with an appropriate research protocol, design appropriate surveys, and implement effective measurement techniques. In this visiting lecture, participants covered the fundamental principles of quantitative research, including some introduction to statistical analysis. Additionally, they covered measurement concepts, including reliability and validity, and how to assess and improve the quality of data.
